About Katharine
Katharine Rogers is an award winning writer/director known for crafting stories with humour and heart.
A graduate of UTS (Master of Media Arts) Katharine has been working in the Australian screen industry for 20 years.
Her award-winning films have screened at over 40 film festivals worldwide, had cinema distribution across the USA and were available to watch above the clouds on Virgin In-Flight Entertainment for two years.
She was a Digital Producer at the ABC for five years, writing, producing, and directing content for broadcast and online. During her time at the ABC, she created the smash-hit Story Salad podcast, as well as directing multiple on-air promos and a 20-episode series for ABC iView.
In 2024 Katharine worked as Screen Lecturer in BA Production at AFTRS, guiding the graduating students on their final films. She has also tutored emerging filmmakers at Bus Stop Films and JMC. In 2024 she was a mentor for the WIFT Elevate program and the following year she was a Screen Mentor at SXSW Sydney.
In 2025 Katharine directed the documentary Unstoppable for Bus Stop Films, a digital content piece for Digital Storytellers and wrote, edited and presented three digital videos for ABC Kids about Dyslexia.
Katharine also writes books for kids. Her debut picture book Cockatoo Magic was published by Loose Parts Press in 2022 and appeared on the Kids Best Seller list at Better Read Than Dead Bookshop in Newtown three times.
